Flyest Tea Co.
When a hip-hop-inspired tea company wanted to work with us, there was no way we could turn down this opportunity. Ivy’s Tea Co was going through a rebrand to Flyest Tea Co and needed to update all of the imagery to represent the new brand. Flyest Tea owner Shanae needed both the standard on-white product photos for sell sheets and other e-commerce needs but also needed fun images to showcase her unapologetic tea company.
We broke this into a two-day shoot with all of the photos on the white backdrop on Day 1 and the creative photos on Day 2 at our office in Foggy Bottom. On Day 1, production assistant Michelle Yabes and I took all of the products to shoot on the white backdrop. We also created a “family” style photo for all of the honey products as an added bonus for the shoot. It was important for all of the images for this to be consistent so we set up the studio and shot all of the photos without moving any of the lights. In post-production, I left the shadow to help ground the image.
On Day 2, I worked with food stylist Nicola Davis of Sage Against the Tagine and production assistant Brandon Payne to create 13 different scenes for each of the tea products. The theme for this creative portion was “controlled chaos.” We utilized various Club Backdrops vinyl backdrops for easy setup and clean-up. Club Backdrops had all of the backdrops we needed, giving each product its own voice but also a sense of consistency. Shanae was able to join us and watch the whole process of building each scene and helping create the chaos.
To accommodate a quick turnaround to get the photos in time for the rebrand launch, we had an editing team to work on getting 72 images edited and delivered to Shanae in less than a week during one of our busiest months. It’s always helpful to have a strong supportive community to create some beautiful images.
