Tori and Dre met at Lighthouse Church over a year ago. "Although we were both incredibly shy in the beginning, there was no denying we had an immediate spark. As Dre puts it, the first time he saw me, he knew that I was the one for him," Tori said.
Dre proposed to Tori on New Year's Eve. "On New Year’s Eve, Dre asked me to marry him after a day-long adventure of reliving our favorite dates. We started in Annapolis where we had one of our first dates. From there, we traveled to different locations until we ended up at a Jewel Heist escape room. I knew the question was coming soon but Dre kept me in suspense," Tori said. "When we opened the final escape room box, I found a handwritten note inviting us to a romantic dinner at Woodberry Kitchen. As the server placed the dessert plate in front of me, Dre promptly got on one knee and popped the question."
About a week after that, we got an email from Tori and Dre wanting to hire us for their wedding. We like to meet our couples before they book us, so we met them in Hanover, Maryland. Tori and Dre made up their minds to sign the contract. Tori even made a lookbook for us. We were set and we scheduled their engagement session for April 1st.
On the day of the engagement session, we met Tori and Dre at Starbucks in downtown Annapolis. They admitted they were nervous. "I think I bought five different outfits to wear because I couldn’t make up my mind before the photo shoot. The night before the photoshoot, we decided to forget about the new and uncomfortable clothes we bought and wear something we felt good in. I ended up in a navy and white sweater and Dre wore a matching navy jacket. We’re happy that we decided to wear something that we felt like ourselves in. We want to carry that same feeling into our wedding day," Tori said. Once we got started, they completely relaxed. They were laughing and giggling the whole time. It was like April Fool's Day made their already bubbly, cheery personalities even cheerier. They almost forgot they were on a photo shoot, which is what we love to do with our couples. Engagement sessions and weddings shouldn't be stressful photo shoots. They should be all about the couple's love.
Tori and Dre's advice for other couples about to have their engagement photos taken: "Looking at Pinterest for photo inspiration is great, but don’t get too caught up in trying to replicate those photos. Remember that this is your engagement and your love story. Let your photos capture that."
We can't wait for their fall wedding at Overhills Mansion in Catonsville!
