Bonnie + Josh | Engagement Photography in Baltimore, Maryland / by Clarissa Villondo

In our last blog post about Mark & Christine, we said we worked a lot. We very rarely cancel/reschedule a shoot, but we had to for Bonnie and Josh's original engagement session. (Photographer Pro Tip: Don't get salmonella poisoning and try to shoot.) What's fun about that is that it worked out! Bonnie & Josh were very understanding that we had to cancel, while Nick sat in the ER bed for six hours. We ended up shooting at their original engagement shoot idea: Light City Baltimore. We went in the middle of the week to avoid the very large crowds. We had fun shooting the engagement session around the harbor in Baltimore, just before the lights turned on for Light City.

Regardless of what happens, everything works out. We knew it was meant to work out when we met with Bonnie and Josh in La Plata. Bonnie is a librarian/derby girl/band nerd. Josh is an engineer who loves to go off-roading. When you bond with other people almost instantly over, you just know it's just going to be great.

We asked Bonnie a little bit about their relationship. You can read all about them below.

How did you two meet?

We met on an online dating site. :P

How did he propose?

We had already designed the ring and picked it up, so I was just waiting until he would make the move. He had put the ring in a Lego Yellow Submarine that he got for me that day, and when I opened it, John was holding the ring.

Tell me about the details you're most excited about for your upcoming wedding!

Everything! Seeing our friends and family, introducing them to each other, is one of the best parts. The location is great, I’m excited to see everyone’s dresses, the cake should be awesome, and definitely sharing this time with everyone!

Where are you getting married?

Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Who is catering the wedding?

Hunt Valley Catering.

Who is the DJ?

A friend of my derby wife, Mike Bean.

What did you each wear to your session?

I wore 2 Lularoe dresses, but I really liked the second one with the petticoat best! Josh wore a black shirt with green stripes and some sexy jeans.

What kind of look were you going for?

Look? Our look is “us.” I wanted to be a little glam, but still me. And Josh just needed a haircut to be him.

Do you have any tips or advice for other couples about to have engagement photos taken?

Just have fun and be yourselves. The best pictures come from being stupid.

How was your overall session experience?

We definitely had a lot of fun! It kind of worked out that our first session was canceled so we could go to Baltimore during the Light City event. Clarissa and Nick were very flexible and patient with us!
